2015/16 AFC South Futures Odds & Predictions

201516 AFC South Futures Odds & Predictions

2015/16 AFC South Futures Odds & Predictions

Will the Colts win the AFC South division for the third consecutive year? My money is on yes. No team in the division is going to be able to beat the Colts – the Texans, Jaguars and Titans are all in rebuilding mode this season.

Obviously, the Colts are huge favorites and there really isn’t much value in betting them to win this season.

Odds to Win AFC South in 2015

  • Indianapolis Colts -420
  • Houston Texans +485
  • Jacksonville Jaguars +2450
  • Tennessee Titans +2850

The Colts don’t have much competition in the AFC South and therefore the odds are brutal. There’s little point tying up money for the entire season on a futures bet that pays out at -420 odds – you can do much better with your bankroll.

Let’s preview each team and take a look at every teams regular season win total in the AFC South.

2015 Indianapolis Colts Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 11-5 (1st in AFC South)

Key Additions: Andre Johnson, Kendall Langford, Trent Colt, Frank Gore, Todd Herremans and Nate Irving

Key Losses: Ricky Jean-Francois, LaRon  Landry, Trent Richardson, Cory Redding, Sergio Brown and Hakeem Nicks

Regular Season Win Total: Over 10.5 Wins (-165) vs. Under 10.5 Wins (+145)

Reggie Wayne is no longer with the Colts, among several other big names like Landry, Redding and Jean-Francois. This is a talented squad with Super Bowl aspirations, though, and they’ll have no problem making another trip to the playoffs.

The question for the Colts is can they make it all the way to the Super Bowl in the AFC? Luck should be even better this season and I like the prospect of the run game improving with the big bruising veteran Gore coming in.

Indy have won 11 games the last three years and will do so again, but the margin for error is slim.

2015 Houston Texans Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 9-7 (2nd in AFC South)

Key Additions: Vince Wilfork, Brian Hoyer, Rahim Moore and Cecil Shorts

Key Losses: Andre Johnson, Chris Myers, Brooks Reed, Kendrick Lewis, D.J. Swearinger and Ryan Fitzpatrick

Regular Season Win Total: Over 8.5 Wins (-135) vs. Under 8.5 Wins (+115)

Hoyer is expected to start for the Texans and that’s why they have no chance at beating the Colts in the division. Foster will be relied on heavily and normally when that happens, Foster goes down with a season-ending injury.

Johnson is gone, so Hopkins is now the #1 guy in Houston. If the run game can be effective, the Texans will win games, as they have a fearsome defense that includes Watt, Clowney and now Wilfork up the middle.

Looking at the schedule – I don’t see the Texans winning more than 8 games — I’m betting under 8.5 wins.

2015 Tennessee Titans Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 2-14 (4th in AFC South)

Key Additions: Brian Orakpo, Da’Norris Searcy, Anthony Fasano, Perrish Cox and Harry Douglas

Key Losses: Michael Roos, Kamerion Wimbley, Bernard Pollard, Nate Washington, Michael Oher and Dontay Moch

Regular Season Win Total: Over 5.5 Wins (-105) vs. Under 5.5 Wins (-115)

Well, the Titans have nowhere to go but up after last year’s debacle. Mariota is in at QB for the Titans and I believe he’ll end up being the franchise QB they need for the next 5+ years, but this season will have some growing pains.

Tennessee have no run game and a lot of pressure will be on Mariota. He has some nice new weapons at WR, but this isn’t a playoff team yet. The defense will be mediocre at best, although I like the signing of Orakpo.

The Titans will be bad again in 2015 and I lean to the under 5.5 wins, although it’s a no bet for me.

2015 Jacksonville Jaguars Team Preview

Last Season’s Record: 3-13 (3rd in AFC South)

Key Additions: Julius Thomas, Davon House, Jared Odrick, Jeremy Parnell, Dan Skuta and Sergio Brown

Key Losses: Will Blackmon, J.T. Thomas, Cecil Shorts, Teddy Williams and Alan Ball

Regular Season Win Total: Over 5.5 Wins (-145) vs. Under 5.5 Wins (+125)

The Jaguars have been loading up on players the last couple off-seasons, but it hasn’t translated to wins. I do believe this team can become a contender, but losing Shorts and not replacing him will make this WR unit even weaker.

Bortles is a promising QB and he now has Yeldon at RB after this year’s draft. Jacksonville may score more points, but the defense is still a major concern. The Jags were hyped last season and failed miserably – expect the same in 2015.

I’m betting on under 5.5 wins at plus money – the Jags haven’t won six or more games since 2010.
